The NDIS is a new way of providing disability services. ADACAS is providing a special model of support coordination using advocacy approaches. If you think you would benefit from an advocacy approach to support coordination to get your plan underway, to resolve problems with implementing your plan or to support you to have your voice heard in how your services happen, please contact us to find out more.
The National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) defines support coordination as: ‘Assistance to strengthen participants’ abilities to coordinate and implement supports and participate more fully in the community’.
According to the NDIA, support coordination can include:
Support coordination is included as a funded item in plans, at a level of intensity that reflects the needs of the participant. Support coordination is funded under the support category ‘Improved Life Choices’.
Support coordination is not rostering of support or management of the financial component of a person’s plan - it has a specific role in ensuring participants are empowered to select their preferred provider and develop an appropriate service agreement.
ADACAS support coordination works like advocacy. We will support you to make decisions about how your plan is implemented and empower you to take and keep control of your NDIS services.
Adacas provides help and support to people with disabilities, the elderly and their carers.
Advocacy is about helping a person to be heard in the decisions that affect their life. Advocacy aims to increase a person’s control over goods, services and quality of life
